Abstract

Generic science skills of students are still rarely measured by the teacher and Learning Cycle 7E learning models are still rarely applied by teachers as learning models in schools, so this research is conducted with the aim to find out the effect of the 7E learning cycle model on students' generic science skills on environmental pollution material at SMP Negeri 1 Balongan Indramayu. This research is a quantitative study that uses True-Experimental Design with Posttest-Only Control Group design. The population in this study are all class VII SMP Negeri 1 Balongan Indramayu consisting of 11 classes with a total of 352 students. The sampling technique is using the ClusterRandom Sampling Probability Sampling technique obtained class VII H as an experimental class and class VIIA as a control class. The instrument in this study was in the form of a 5-item generic science test of students' generic skills. Based on the results of the study obtained an average in the experimental class is 74 and the control class is 63.75. With a significant level (α) = 0.05 and degrees of freedom (db) 62 obtained tcount = 28.29 and ttable = 2,000. Because tcount> ttable, then reject Ho.This means that the learning cycle 7E model influences students' scientific skills on environmental pollution material in SMP Negeri 1Balongan Indramayu.
